|Dave Howell is the Program Manager for the Hybrid Electric Systems R&D at the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). He is responsible for DOE's R&D portfolio of projects on electric drive vehicle batteries, electric drive components, and vehicle systems analysis and testing. He serves as DOE's representative at the United States Advanced Battery Consortium Management Committee and atinternational organizations and inter-government forums involved in hybrid and electric drive transportation.Dave is also the Department's Technology Development Manager for the Electric Drive Vehicle Battery Manufacturing Initiative grants awarded through the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act. Earlier, Dave was a member of the research staff of the Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, where he was the Project Manager for Aerospace Technologies. Prior to that, he served on active duty at the Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio where he was the Program Manager for Advanced Materials for Space Structures at the Air Force Materials Laboratory. Dave received a Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville.|
